Nicki Minaj is on the cover of Marie Claire magazine August issue. The Young Money rapper’s evolution has been a remarkable one both in her music and her image. It seems as if it was just yesterday we use to see Nicki Minaj in coloured wigs and some outlandish outfits.

Now the Trinidadian rapstress has grown into her own with a more recognizable look. In the issue, Nicki Minaj opens up about her stint on American Idol, her love life, having kids, acting and more. “The perception that people had of me completely changed because there are no cue cards, there’s no script, it wasn’t me performing a song,” Nicki Minaj said about her run on Idol. “It was, ‘Let’s see your real personality.” Nicki Minaj also said she is considering a career in film one day. She originally went to school for acting before launching a career in rap. “One day, when I start getting a couple gray hairs, maybe it will all be only acting. I just never know. I've kind of become the poster child for doing the things that no one expects,” she said. Nicki Minaj also has some advice for her barbz when it comes to dating. “Don’t chase any man,” Nicki said. “Put your school first. Men love independent women. You don’t have to be a b*tch, but there’s nothing wrong with it at times. And: Men are kids at heart. They want to be nourished and pet like a dog.”

Samsung Galaxy S3 Explosion in teenager’s Pocket Leaves Her with third degree burns

A Swiss teenager suffered second and third degree burns when her smartphone apparently exploded in her pocket . Fanny Schlatter, 18, was injured when the Samsung Galaxy S3 allegedly blew up in her trouser pocket. She claims to have been left with no feeling in her right thigh and said she will be launching a criminal complaint against Samsung. French language paper Le Matin reported that Ms Schlatter was working as an painting apprentice when she heard a large bang. She told the paper: ‘All of a sudden I heard the sound of an explosion – like a firecracker. ‘Then I noticed a strange chemical smell and my work trousers began to catch fire.’ By the time Ms Schlatter’s boss, Stephanie Kubler, had come to her assistance, the flames had reached her shoulders. She was rushed into the nearest bathroom where colleagues doused the flames before driving her to hospital. Ms Schlatter explained: ‘Luckily my hair was tied up and my sweater didn’t have time to catch fire.’ However, she added that her burns were severe enough to make her smell like a ‘burnt pig’. The burns have left Ms Schlatter with no feeling in her right thigh and the teenager has been signed off work until 15 August. She now plans to file a legal complaint against the Korean phone maker. In a statement, a Samsung spokesperson told the MailOnline: ‘Once we have gotten hold of the product in question, we will conduct a thorough examination to determine the exact cause of this incident. ‘We would like to assure our customers that we have always employed strict quality control and safety standards to ensure a safe and pleasant user experience.’ This is not the first time a Samsung Galaxy S3 battery has supposedly exploded. In May this year, Reddit user Vizionx1208 posted pictures of his destroyed Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, claiming he was ‘and woken by a loud noise and a weird squeaking sound.’ He states the phone was on the verge of setting alight and his bedroom had filled with smoke and had a ‘pungent smell.’ He was able to put out the smouldering phone by chucking a glass of water over it but the phone had already burnt his mattress cover and left a small burn on his finger.

Man Kills 85-Yr-Old Observing Ramadan Night Prayer

Residents of Abiola Central Community, Moniya, Akinyele Local Government area of Oyo State were thrown into mourning as a young man, Mutiu Tiamiyu, beat to death an 85-year-old man, Nasir Adigun, on Ramadan eve. The octogenarian, who was physically impaired, was said to be observing Tarawhi (Ramadan night prayer) on Tuesday when Tiamiyu pounced on him. It was learnt that the old man was persuaded by his family members to observe the prayer at home, while other members of the household went to the mosque. The attention of residents and worshippers in a nearby mosque were drawn to the old man’s plight by an unnamed teenager, who raised the alarm. When the residents arrived at Adigun’s house, the old man was found in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and was later referred to the University College Hospital, Ibadan. He died before getting to the hospital. An eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, said, “Tiamiyu had eaten the old man's food earlier that night. He later attacked him in his living room.” A family member said, “Pa Adigun was at home while we all went to the mosque for Tarawhi prayer. He had problem with his sight. We didn’t want to disturb him at night so he stayed at home while others went to mosque for prayer. “All of a sudden, we heard a boy shouting Mutiu’s name. At first we shouted the boy down but we later rushed to be the the scene because he persisted. “On getting there, baba was found lying helplessly on the floor in a pool of blood. The young boy said that he saw Tiamiyu hitting baba’s head with a club. He (the boy) lives next door; he refused to go to mosque with his parents. He told us that he saw Tiamiyu beating the old man when he peeped through the window.” Tiamiyu, who had earlier escaped was arrested by the victim’s family around 7.20am on Wednesday while trying to escape with his dog. He was handed over to the police at the Moniya Division, Ibadan. Some residents of the area described Tiamiyu as a thorn in their flesh. Our correspondent gathered that some neighbours had complained that he was victimising people in the area. On interrogation before being handed over to the police, Tiamiyu said, “I was hungry and I asked baba to give me money but he refused.” Attempts to get the reaction of the police to the incident failed as the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Mrs. Bisi Ilobanefor, could not be reached. Six killed In Fresh Ebute Meta, Lagos Building Collapse

The death toll in a collapsed building, early Thursday, in Lagos has risen to six. Emergency rescue officials have revealed that seven people, including two children aged 2 and 4, have been rescued from the rubble. The 3-storey building at Oloto Street, Ebute Meta , collapsed at about 2.35 a.m. trapping about 10 people. Rescue efforts are still ongoing. More details coming soon ….

Soldiers Withdrawn From Amaechi's Governor's Lodge

As the political chaos in
Rivers State edges towards the
cliff, about 30 soldiers
guarding the Governor's lodge
have been summarily withdrawn by
the Brigade Commander in charge
of the Joint Task Force (JTF)
in Port Harcourt at the orders
of President Goodluck Jonathan.

SaharaReporters also learnt
that the soldiers took with
them two Armored Personnel Cars
(APC) usually stationed at
Government House.

A military source told our
correspondent that the removal of
the soldiers was ordered from
Abuja. He warned that things
might get bloodier in the state
capital with the JTF gone from
Government House leaving the
security of the governor and
his aides in the hands of a
few police officers and State
Security Services agents.
An eyewitness said a new
detachment of soldiers came
briefly to inspect a third APC
that seems disabled.

Saharareporters could not
confirm further reports that the
soldiers that were removed are
being detained and interrogated
at the barracks.
