Governor of Imo state Rochas Okorocha has nominated the Chief of staff, Eze Madumere, to replace the impeached deputy governor.

The Speaker, Mr.Benjamin Uwajumogu, confirmed the resolution in favour of the impeachment after its adoption and thereafter, read out a letter from the governor where he nominated his Chief of staff to occupy the vacant position.

Agbaso was impeachment of Imo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Jude Agbaso, Thursday evening, the state governor, for taking bribe from a Lebanese contractor, currently handling theroad construction works going on across Imo State, thus using his office as the Deputy Governorand commissioner for works to influence the act.

Gunmen attacked Ganye in Adamawa state on Friday, the gunmen carried out the ungodly act simultaneously opening fire into a bar, a bank, Killing 25 innocent citizens, Free 120 inmates from.Mohammed Ibrahim, police spokesman for Adamawa police command said.

Olubunmi Oke the NTA reporter was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on thursday night by four gunmen at her Oba-Ile residence in the Akure area of Ondo State has been released.

“I confirm that she has been released. I spoke with her early this morning shortly after she was set free by her abductors. She was set free and abandoned in a bush near Ondo town, about30 kilometres (19 miles) from Akure from where she boarded alorry home. She is hale and hearty and happy to be back home."

Rotimi Obamuwagun, vice president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, told AFP.

He died last night in a hospital in Boston, Massachusettsat the age of 82 .Professor Achebe had been sick for some time.

He was a Nigerian novelist , poet ,professor , and critic . He is best known for his f novels Things Fall Apart in 1958, which is the most widely read book in modern African literature . His last book, There Was A Country: A Personal History of Biafra, is still making waves.

I saw this on Vanguardngr A boat traveling from Oron in Akwa Ibom State to Malabao in Equilateral Guinea, yesterday, capsized at the Calabar Waterways with no fewer than 166 passengers feared dead.

The “giant-sized wooden boat” when it capsized at 40 nautical miles along the coast of Calabar off Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, waterways”.

The eyewitnesses said the boat was carrying 168 passengers, adding that rescue efforts were still going on.

Leaving over 45 people dead, 45 corpses of some of the victims have been deposited at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, mortuary.

The Assistant Director Information, Cross River Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Mr David Akate, who confirmed the incident, further details was not given regarding the incident A marine transporter at the Calabar Inland Waterways, Mr Ikechukwu Egwu, also confirmedthe incident.

He said the passengers of the boat were mostly Igbo traders who were heading for Gabon, adding that they were mostly from the South East states who headed to Oron in Akwa Ibom to board the wooden boat because it was cheap.
