I’m Not Trying to Become an American, I'm Exporting Nigerian Music – Ice Prince

Chocolate City rap star
Ice Prince Zamani has said that he's not trying to become an American artiste nor is he trying to force himself on the American music scene.

Ice Prince disclosed this during an
exclusive cocktail event hosted in his honour recently at the BlackHouse Media Lounge in Ikeja, Lagos.
He stated that he only chose to
collaborate with foreign artistes on his highly acclaimed second album, Fire of Zamani, simply to export Nigerian music.

"I am not trying to become an
American artiste nor am I trying to
blow in America. I am a Nigerian
artiste that is exporting Nigerian
music. Any chance that I get, I will
export Nigerian music. So if that
chance is getting into the studio
with an international artiste, I will
take that chance," he said.

With just a day left to the launch of his Fire of Zamani concert , slated for the Eko Hotel & Suites on 23 November, he said all arrangements are in top shape to
deliver one of the best gigs in the year International artistes, Wale and Chip will join Ice Prince on stage for the.
first time in Nigeria at the FOZ concert.
Other performers billed for the concert include MI, Sunny Neji, Burna Boy, Olamide, Yung El and Jeremiah Gyang among others.

"With all the hard work and dedication we are putting into Fire Of Zamani, fans should get ready for this Concert, it is going to be something else," added
rapper and Chocolate City Vice president, M.I Abaga.

Also commenting on the concert, Audu Maikori, CEO, Chocolate City Group, said American-Nigerian rapper Wale is long overdue to come to Nigeria and the label
is pleased to bring him home.

He stated further: "In Fire Of Zamani, we aim to detribalise Nigerian music and
represent different Nigerian cultures instead. This is also the same direction we are going with the concert, we will be
celebrating Nigerian music as a whole and not a particular tribe."
Popular politician and Chief of Staff to Edo State governor, Patrick Obahiagbon will be the host of the event.

Nollywood Receives Another N150m Grant from GEJ, While Twenty Times More Expected

The Federal Government, President
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan have
awarded another N150m to
Nollywood, and it was not the first
time for the industry to receive such.
On March 3, 2013, President Goodluck Jonathan organised a dinner at Marina in Lagos to celebrate Nollywood at 20. On
that occasion, he announced a N3billion grants geared towards supporting the nation’s foremost movie industry, Nollywood.
But ever since the announcement, a sharp division has risen among the members of the umbrella body of actors and actresses, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), with key
players having different stance on how the money should be disbursed.

What happens to the fund? It’s obvious it has been squandered. While practitioners suffer from lack of funds and humiliation
in the quest to produce films, some
people are busy working to ensure that the money lands in their bank account.

Currently, Nollywood stars operating in the country’s film industry under the recently launched Capacity Training Fund
of the Presidential Intervention scheme called “Project ACT Nollywood, “with an objective to help the industry make
further progress on a more solid
foundation.”

The Federal Government said on
November 20, 2013, Wednesday, it
awarded various grants adding that this was in line with President Jonathan’s vision for the industry.

The training portion of the Capacity
Building Fund valued at about N150 million is dedicated to training and skill acquisition for Nigerian movie
practitioners in all competences along the
value chain of Nigeria’s movie industry.
Paul Nwabuikwu, the Special Adviser to
the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the economy has acclaimed that the beneficiaries of the grant
emerged after the applications submitted by the practitioners were processed and found to have met the qualification for the training and skills acquisition programme The training programme covers script writing, directing, film production and production design, special effects, lighting, sound effect, HD techniques, acting, cinematography, make-up, editing, etc.

The grants, which are currently being processed, would enable the practitioners receive high quality training in accredited institutions to improve their competences in various areas of film craft.

She said another N150 million has been set aside as grants to existing Nigerian- owned private institutes that offer training courses, programmes and technical certification in the movie
industry.

The Coordinating Minister for the
Economy and Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, expressed satisfaction with the development and appealed to individuals or more applications from qualified practitioners.
Hopefully, it works fine.

How and when did you meet your
husband?

I met him in Nigeria, at a colleagues birthday. Immediately I saw him, I knew he was my husband. It is more than abyear ago now.

How did he approach and propose
to you?

He stood and was staring at me. He told
me something said he should just talk to me and he did. We introduced ourselves,I told him I was an actress, that was it.

Tell us more about him.

His name is Apo. He is from Anambra State. He is an ex-footballer based in thevUnited States of America.
A lot of men stop their wives from
acting after marriage, what will
happen to your acting career?
He knows I am an actress. I told him immediately I met him and he likes what I do. He supports me career wise. He understands what is happening in ourbindustry, he is in full support.

Why the choice of a U.K-based
man?

Men that have travelled far and widebknow what is happening in the industry, he is exposed. He has mingled with people from other cultural backgrounds and with different people. A lot of
Nigerian men don’t really understand what is happening in the industry, mostespecially if they are not into
entertainment. He too is into show
business as well. So, he understands the terrain. I think it is quite easy that way.
He has mingled with a lot of show
business stars, he knows as an actress, I have to mingle with friends so I can get movie roles. I have to kiss in movies and
I can be away for some days. So, it is a good thing to have someone who understands you.

What is happening to you career
wise?

I am still very active in the industry. I have been very busy of recent. I have done a lot, some of the movies I featured will soon be out. Agunba will soon be out, Onyewa will also be out. I have been very busy. More movies will be released very soon.

Will you be relocating abroad after
your wedding?

I love to be with him, but I still have to continue with my career. I will be shuttling U.K and Nigeria. Thank God I can travel anytime I want. I still want to continue with my acting career, so I will be on and off.

Jonathan Falls Seriously Sick In London

President Goodluck Jonathan is seriously ill and has become indisposed, about 24hours after he marked his birthday.
The story of his emergency sickness is now a cause of serious concern at the Aso Rock presidential villa in Abuja....
Already, as seen in the tweet above, the Chairman of Governor's Forum, Governor. Rotimi Amaechi has sent out words of
prayer to President Jonathan. Below is what Reuben Abati said about his present
condition:

"In the course of his ongoing visit to
London for a meeting of Nigeria’s
Honorary International Investors’ Council, President Goodluck Jonathan became indisposed and could not be present at the opening of the meeting today
(Thursday).
"President Jonathan has since been
examined by competent medical
practitioners. He has been advised to rest for a few days," Reuben Abati confirmed.
