Durella Accuses D’Banj Of Jacking His Song ‘Blame It On The Money’

Six days ago, D’Banj released a new single.

‘Blame It on The Money’ in which he featured Snoop Lion and label mate Big Sean. But, Durella at the moment is
claiming the song is his and that D’Banj jacked it from him. Story has it that Durella recorded “Blame It On The Money” but his previous label Ikonic Music didn’t release it. Then when they were ready to release it, Ikonic records claimed Durella sold “Blame It On ThebMoney” to D’banj.
Durella, according to tooxclusive.com, has denied selling his song to D’Banj.

He
says:

“I didnt sell my song to Dbanj. I
only played the song to his
hearing once and the next thing I
saw was Dbanj ft Snoop Lion, Big
Sean; he didnt even change the
title of the song maybe cuz i told
him i dont know if I should
release the song or not no
wonder he told me I should not
release it”

$5m for Baby KimYe’s First Pictures

FG Approves Cut-Off Marks For 2013/2014 UTME

The Federal Government on Tuesday in Abuja approved cut-off marks for
admission into tertiary institutions
for the 2013/2014 academic session.

The Minister of Education, Ruqayyatu Rufa'i, announced the cut-off marks into Colleges of Education, Polytechnics and other degree-awarding institutions as 150 while 180 is for federal universities.

Rufa'i said this at the Fourth Combined Policy Meeting on Admission to Degree-Awarding Institutions, National Diploma (ND), Nigeria Certificate in Education(NCE) and National Innovation Diploma (NID) awarding institutions.
She said the meeting was to plan for the selection of qualified candidates into the nations tertiary institutions and also to restore confidence in the education
system.
"I implore all stakeholders to follow the Federal Government's guidelines on admission which stipulatesb70:30 Technology/Non-Technology ratio for ND programmes.
"Also, 60:40 Science/Arts ratio for
Degree and Nigeria Certificate in
Education programmes and also to
observe the criteria on merit, catchments and educationally less developed states.
"In addition, we must not forget the
carrying-capacity of our institutions as approved by the accrediting bodies,'' sheb said.
According to her, the accreditation
bodies are the National Universities
Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and National Commission for Colleges of Education(NCCE).
Rufa'i said in order to enhance the
carrying capacities of the country's
institutions the ministry had undertaken
continuous development and
rehabilitation of infrastructure in the institutions of higher learning.

She, however, said the Tertiary Education Trust Fund had disbursed N256.4 billion over the past three years for diverse development activities in the institutions.
She said that at the polytechnic level all the 51 Federal and state and polytechnics had benefited from rehabilitation and upgrading of their laboratories to 21st century standards ata total of N15 billion

She said that this had helped to enhance the teaching and learning process in the institutions.
She also said that work had also started on the construction of micro-teaching laboratories in our colleges of education.
The minister also said that all Federal Colleges of Education and one state
College of Education per state would benefit from this, making a total of 58 institutions at a cost of N11.6 billion.
"I am pleased that these interventions
continue to translate to expanded
carrying capacity in our institutions.
"For this academic year, we expect
carrying capacity to increase from
400,691 admitted last year to over
500,000.
"I urge all institutions to carefully
examine their carrying capacities in
relation to their expanding
infrastructure. You must make sure that you fill the quota for each course.''
She called on all institutions to adhere to
the admission timetable as prepared by
the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Rufa'i commended JAMB on the
successful conduct of the 2013 UTME.
The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Dibu
Ojerinde, said the meeting was to
prepare grounds for needed capital
development to engineer the Nigerian "Technological growth that would be attained through quality and functional education of the citizens.

"Let me remind all the federal
institutions that the ratio of 45:35:20 for merit, catchment and educationally less- developed states, respectively, is still in force and should be adhered to strictly to ensure national cohesion.

"All Nigerians must be given the
opportunity to mix and educate freely in any part of the country.''

Ojerinde also said the ratio of 40:40:20 for state-owned institutions must be strictly adhered  to

War On Terrorism: Jonathan Calls For More International Co-Operation

President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Tuesday called for greater global co-operation and co-ordination in the war against terrorism.

Jonathan made the call while receiving the new ambassadors of Israel, Russia, Greece, Algeria and Senegal who presented their letters of credence to him during separate visits to the
Presidential Villa.

He said Nigeria and other countries
would benefit immensely from greater collaboration amongst their security agencies in efforts to combat domestic and international terrorism.

"Nigeria will welcome increased co-
operation with countries that are more experienced in such matters like the on- going operations against domestic
terrorist groups,'' the president told the ambassadors.
Jonathan also told the new Israeli
Ambassador, Mr. Uriel Palti, that he
looked forward to visiting Israel later in the year.

He said the visit would afford him the opportunity of discussing ways of enhancing bilateral co-operation
between Nigeria and Israel with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The other ambassadors received by the president were Mr. Alekos
Oikonomopoulos from Greece, Mr.
Nikolay Udovichenko from Russia, Mr. Belkacem Smaili from Algeria and Mr. Amadou Habibou from Senegal.

Jonathan assured the ambassadors that the Federal Government would fully support their efforts to strengthen existing cordial relations between Nigeria and their countries. On their party the new ambassadors all expressed their delight at being posted to Nigeria.

They also promised to do everything possible to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between their countries
and Nigeria.

FG Approves N300m Capacity Building Fund For Nollywood

The Federal Government has
approved N300 million out of the
three billion naira intervention fund for capacity building to boost the Nigerian film industry.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by Mr Paul Nwabuikwu, Spokesman for the Minister of F1inance and Coordinating Minister for the
Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

"Action on the three billion naira supportpromised the Nigerian film industry byPresident Goodluck Jonathan hasformally commenced with the roll out ofa N300 million capacity building fund.''

The statement noted that the capacity building fund was the first of a series of initiatives planned under "Project Act Nollywood'', adding that It was made up
of two components.

According to the statement, the first
component is a Training Fund of N150 million, dedicated to training and skills acquisition for Nollywood practitioners inall competencies along the entire value chain of the industry.

The statement said it includes;
scriptwriting, directing, production and production design, special effects,lighting, sound, HD techniques, acting,
M cinematography, make-up and editing, among others.
It said that the second component was the Capacity Development Fund which was also worth N150 million..

According to the statement, grants will be given to existing Nigerian-owned private institutes that offer training courses, programmes, and technical certification in the movie industry.

The statement said the fund might beused to upgrade existing facilities,procure equipment and develop internalcapacity to offer a set of courses and training programmes that would address
key skills gaps.

It said that institutes to benefit from the fund must have a prove of registration from Jan. 1, 2013, and be competent enough to train people according to
global best practices.

The statement said that the intervention Project ACT Nollywood, would be
managed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and the Minister of Tourism, Chief Edem Duke.
Okonjo-Iweala in the statement said the establishment of the fund underscored government's commitment to supporting Nollywood in recognition of its
contributions to the economy.

"This is the first of the initiatives planned under Project Act Nollywood, and it
shows that the president is keeping his word to the industry and to Nigerians.

"Nollywood deserves this support
because it has added value to the
economy by creating jobs and acting as an ambassador to the country.

"It is also projecting Nigeria to many parts of the world that hitherto, knew little or nothing about the country," it quoted Okonjo-Iweala as saying.

It said that the overall objective of
Project Act Nollywood was to support the industry in a sustainable way that practitioners could leverage on to improve their capacity and output in key areas.

"The fund is open for applications from July to December 2013. Courses commencing after Dec. 31st are eligible provided the application is received before Dec. 31 2013.''

It said that guidelines for applications indicated that applicants must be
Nigerians and industry practitioners among other requirements.

NEMA warns Lagosians against severe weather&heavy rain tomorrow


The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has warned that there will be severe weather and heavy rainfall in Lagos tomorrow Tuesday June 19th.
 
NEMA spokesperson, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the early warning is based on alerts received from the African Centre of Meterological Applications for Development based in Niamey, Niger Republic. 
He said:

“In Nigeria, Lagos and its environs are expected to experience torrential rainfall from about 50 mm 24h: Confidence medium means that all stakeholders must be prepared to take all precautionary steps against leaving the warning unattended. 

“On this premise, NEMA is passionately imploring all segments of Nigerian society in the southern part of Nigeria to steps against exposing themselves to the dangers at hand,” 

“Those living in the flood plains should relocate to higher (areas) when they are experiencing heavy accumulation of flood water
"NEMA is also using this medium to warn parents sending their wards on any errands while the rain is falling as well as stop dumping of refuse on the drain,” the statement said.
