"My Husband Uses 'Aboniki' To Have Sex With Me, It Was Torture" - Woman Tells Court

A 43-year-old woman, Omolara
Acchoyame, recently dazed her
husband before the Igando Customary Court in Lagos State, when she alleged that sex with her husband was torture.
Omolara, who had filed for divorce
proceedings against her husband,
Solomon Acchoyame, alleged that he exhibited strange behaviours while
making love to her.
She alleged that he waited for her to sleep, then without waking her up, just opens her clothes and had sex with her, adding that she never enjoyed this.
Omolara further told the court that her husband had three things which he used during sex for lubrication, listing them as
aboniki balm, mentholatum and dusting powder, adding that these things made her hate having sex with him.
She testified that she met her husband 14 years ago and bore him three children, adding that their major quarrel was based
on the fact that he didn’t know what he's doing for a living.

“We fought most times before I left
home because I don’t know what he does for a living. He goes to his village three times a week and I don’t know the reason for this since his parents are dead and when he comes back, he would say he does not have any money.
“ I would go to my sister to borrow
money for him for his next trip. Yet, he will come back and curse me and my family and he doesn’t come home until midnight.
“My husband does nothing for a living.Please dissolve the marriage so that I canbstart my life all over again,” she said.
In his defence, the 44 year-old husband stated that when he met his wife at thebUniversity College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State, things were going on well for him and it was with his money that he trained her in the university.
Solomon said that after a while, he
started experiencing financial difficulties and he couldn’t complete his education.
“I want to perform my obligations as a father and husband, but I am
handicapped,” he said.
The case was adjourned till September 25.

Ekiti Threatens To Jail Parents Who Refuse To Seend Children To School

Ekiti State Government has threatened to jail parents who refuse to send their children or wards to school. Governor
Kayode Fayemi issued the threat at
Emure-Ekiti in Emure Local Government, at the commencement of the
“Registration of Pupils” into Kindergarten and Primary One class’’ for 2013/2014 academic session.
According to him, any parent who has a child of school age that is not in school from this day will be arrested and tried under the Child Rights Law 2011.
He said, “Let me use this opportunity to sound this note of warning that any child that is of school age, but who is not in
school, when he or she is expected to be there, will be picked up.

“And he will be asked to show agent of government, way to their family home where we will in turn pick up the defaulting parents.

“My government has invested so much in the education sector, and it is our wish that such acts of benevolence will be reciprocated,” Fayemi said.
Fayemi noted that out of over 10 million Nigerian children that were currently not in school in Nigeria, Ekiti had less than 10 per cent.

The governor emphasized that since his administration had declared free and compulsory education at junior school
level, no parent had excuse not to
support the policy.

He explained that since the future
belongs to the younger ones, nothing must be done to truncate what destiny had in stock for them.

The governor reiterated that there was no way he could have become the number one citizen of Ekiti if he had not gone to school.

He said further that his administration is determined to achieve zero percentage.

Thunder strikes 4 persons dead

Four persons were killed on Friday when thunder struck at Mechanic Village in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, central Nigeria.
A witness said the incident occurred at Bukan-Sidi around 7:05 p.m. when the four men were about leaving their workshop following a downpour.
According to the witness, when the
deceased noticed that it was about to rain, they decided to lockup their
workshop and go home , but before they could leave the workshop thunder
struck .
Sympathisers and passers-by were seen in groups, discussing the incident.
The bodies of the victims have been deposited at the Dahaltu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia.
When contacted on telephone, the
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer in the Police Command in the State, ASP Cornelious Ocholi, confirmed the story.
He said the police would investigate the matter.

Agagu, Ex Ondo governor dies

Dr. Olusegun Kokumo Agagu, a former Governor of Ondo State, in westernNigeria has died. He was aged 65.
Agagu, who returned from the US on Thursday, reportedly slumped in Ikoyi, Lagos, where he was having a meeting with Ondo indigenes, on Friday evening.
It was gathered that he ate lunch at
home in Ikoyi before heading for a
meeting on Lagos mainland, where he slumped.
Subsequently, he was rushed to a private hospital in Yaba but he was transferred to Military Hospital, Ikoyi, where he was pronounced dead.
His corpse was still at the military hospital las at the time of filing this report.
Agagu’s former Chief Press Secretary, Yemi Olowolabi, said the former governor as not sick and had just returned from a 20-day trip abroad.
Olowolabi, who worked with him for
more than four years, described his
former boss as “a great man, a first-class intellectual and an astute administrator.”
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun
Mimiko, described the death of his
predecessor as shocking, adding that Ondo has lost a colossus, whose vacuum would be difficult to fill.

Mimiko said, “He would be remembered as a consummate politician and lecturer, who imparted knowledge to many people across the world.”

Agagu’s schoolmate at the University of Ibadan, Senator Olu Alabi, who is a former Governing Board Chairman, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, said, “We were together in UI. We co-funded United Nigerian Congress Party and the Peoples Democratic Party. I don’t know what to tell his wife, Funke.”

Member, PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, said:

“This is tragic news. I’m shattered. He never held grudges.”
Agagu was Governor of Ondo State in Nigeria from 29 May 2003 until February 2009, when a court voided his re-election as governor on account of electoral irregularities. He was also a former aviation minister under former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
