SHOCKING: 17 Year Old Girl Beheaded In Abia
The beheading of a 17-year-old girl,
Chioma Emeka Ikwuagwu, by unknown killers has caused tension
between Ameke and Ukome
communities in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
The late Chioma hails from Ameke but lived with her parents at Ukome, where she was killed.
The bereaved community
of Ameke is said to have given Ukome three days to produce their daughter.
The notice expired on July 30, thus
creating apprehension in Ukome
community. Sources at Ukome said the deceased, who was an SSS3 student of Holy Rosary College, Umuahia, was the first of five children.
Her father, Emeka Ikwuagwu, told
reporters that on July 26, he went to collect some corn from one of his farm while his wife, Akunna, led some people to weed their other farm. Ikwuagwu said
Chioma brought food to the farm for her mother and the workers at noon.
He said: "She was asked to go to another farm to collect some vegetables for use later that evening and she never came
back.
It was the last time she was seen alive.
"When she did not return, her mother went in search of her, only to discover blood everywhere at the farm and she alerted me.
"I immediately organised a search party to look for her around the farm and her lifeless body was found at a nearby spot
with palm fronds covering her. "When we found her, her jeans were drawn down close to her lap, she clutched tightly to her underwear with one hand with machete cuts on her other arm.
Her head had been cut off.
"We left the body like that so that the police could see it. They (police) came on Saturday morning to remove the body and deposited it at the City GatenMortuary, Umuahia, after the Federal
Medical Centre rejected it."
A source said upon hearing the news, Ukome youths searched the bush for the killers.
He said: "They didn't find anything.
The father was compelled by tradition to report the incident to his kinsmen at Ameke, which he did. "On July 28, they
marched on Ukome with wooden gongs and symbolic palm fronds, which they handed down to Ukome people, demanding their daughter or her killers."
It was gathered that a suspect has been arrested.
The man is said to have threatened the family over a piece of land because of a piece of land willed to Ikwuagwu by his
late grandmother. Police spokesman Geoffrey Ogbonna said the command was aware of the matter, but that they are still waiting for full details before
starting investigations.

Jonathan, A Drowning President – El- Rufai
A former Minister of the Federal
Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-
Rufai, has described President
Goodluck Jonathan as a drowning
President, who distorts facts.
El-Rufai, in a statement on Wednesday, insisted that Jonathan had resorted to ethnic and religious politics to score
some political points.
The President's spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, on Sunday described el-Rufai as "a serial liar" while responding to an interview the former minister granted Liberty FM, Kaduna, on Saturday.
El-Rufai, in the interview, said Jonathan
was playing religious and ethnic politics.
The former minister, who, on
Wednesday, insisted that Jonathan was playing the ethnic game, noted that the Presidency had not addressed issues he raised on Saturday.
He said, "It may interest the President to know that Nigerians are much wiser now and will not be deceived by the antics of a drowning president and his desperate
aides."
El-Rufai, for instance, said Jonathan
favoured his home state, Bayelsa in
federal appointments, citing a report by the Governance and Sustainable Initiatives Limited, entitled 'Analysis and Lessons of the Current Geopolitical
Distribution of Federal Appointments', to support his claim.
He said, "The Jonathan administration is said to have favoured his home state of Bayelsa 200 per cent times more than the next states with the highest federal representation - Delta, Edo and
Anambra.
"If Jonathan is not playing the ethnic card, can he possibly explain to Nigerians why Bayelsa, which has the smallest population in Nigeria and the fewest number of local government areas, has more than double the number of federal appointees measured by population and weight of responsibility than that of the next state?"
According to him, the most populous states of Lagos and Kano are at the bottom of the representation ladder.
He recalled that the President was quick to exonerate those he called "My people" from the October 1, 2010 bombings in Abuja.
El-Rufai said Henry Okah, convicted of. the offence in South Africa, revealed that a Presidency official contacted him to implicate some northerners.
He also said after the 2011 elections,Jonathan told a delegation of the
Ohanaeze Ndigbo that the only votes he got from the North were from Igbo residents in the region.
He asked, "Are those the words of a
patriot or an ethnic bigot? This was after an election where he received nearly 100 per cent of all votes cast in the South-South and South-East states, in some cases getting more votes than there were registered voters or even residents."
He also criticised Vice-President Namadi Sambo for the massive debts he incurred as the governor of Kaduna State.
However, the Presidency said el-Rufai and his ilk were "grossly irresponsible for targeting Jonathan in their politics of abuse and name-calling."
Abati said nobody had the right to
denigrate the office of the President under the guise of engaging in criticism.
Doing so, according to the presidential spokesman, is both "unreasonable and foolish."
Abati said, "I have not seen the full text of El-Rufai's statement. I will look out for it and study it and if need be, I will respond appropriately."
Cameroon Takes Full Control Over Disputed Bakassi
State radio of
Cameroon announced
on August 14, 2013, Wednesday, that the country took full governance over the disputed
territory of Bakassi. This statement
marks the end of the interim period, which lasted for five years after signing the agreement with Nigeria signalling the end of a bloody conflict over the land.
"The transitional period in the
Cameroonian peninsula of Bakassi has come to an end," said an announcement on the radio.
Bakassi was formally transferred from Nigeria to Cameroon on August 14, 2008, halting 15 years of border conflict.
The five-year transitional term was
supported by the UN and helped
Cameroon to develop an administrative presence in the area.
The peninsula in the west of the country was formerly part of South Cameroon, itself an area of Nigeria, until inhabitants voted to join Cameroon in 1961. It has
around 40,000 inhabitants, including many Nigerian expatriates.
Nigerians living in the peninsula will now have to apply for a visa or apply for Cameroonian citizenship, and Cameroonians will have to register with the tax authorities.
In October 2002, the International Court of Justice ruled that Bakassi was part of Cameroon, not Nigeria.
Cameroon originally took its claim over the sovereignty of the potentially oil and gas rich peninsula to the court in 1994.
The area is a prime target for Nigerian pirates due to its proximity to the unstable Niger delta region, where attacks and kidnapppings are common.
In 2009, the Cameroon government
stepped up its fight against the pirates by deploying an elite army unit to Bakassi, and by later establishing five military bases there.

You have been married for eight
months now and you are yet to go and meet your wife in the UK, one would expect that after your project you would have gone to join your wife as against you moving from one location to the other in Nigeria?
How did you know if I have not travelled in between or if she had pop in to seen me. My wife is aware of my work and she supports my commitment.
The popular belief is that your gettingnmarried to a white woman is for you. to relocate permanently to the UK? Popular belief? That is the effect of poverty mentality, must it always be that way?
I'm in the marriage for happiness and not for passport or money, and there was no agreement for me to relocate to the UK, if that had been one of the conditions my wife gave, I wouldn't have gotten married to her.
, can you please shed lightnon that?
At the time I met my wife, I was alone and at my lowest ebb emotionally, there was no serious relationship and I needed to love and be loved. It's one thing for a woman to say she loves you and it's another thing for you to believe her.
I had experienced a bad side of love and it had affected me and my reactions towards women and love. I wanted to move on and my wife was able to
convince me.
How did your wife convince you? Did she ask you out?
I didn't say that, and even if she did, it's no big deal to them. So it hurts me deeply when some people misconstrued my intentions in this marriage. Let me tell you one thing, since I've been going to the UK, I have never stayed that long or had it that close to a white woman before and when we moved from the stage of friendship to dating I got really carried away.
Her dedication and openness were just unbelievable and I fell in love real hard,though I didn't envisage marriage.
So you decided to quickly get
married. Why Nigeria, why not the UK since the whole wedding was just at the registry? How did you convince
your wife?
She had a pre-planned trip to Ivory Coast but she later suggested coming to Nigeria, I agreed to that as I prefer my country than travelling to meet her in Ivory Coast.
Two Kids Kidnap In Ilorin, Recovered at Seme Border
Two kids allegedly abducted in Idi-
Ape area of Ilorin in the wee hours of Tuesday have been recovered by the operatives of the Nigerian Police Force at the Seme border between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
It was gathered, Wednesday, that the two children, a boy and a girl ages five and six, were allegedly abducted in the early hours of Tuesday in Ilorin when they were sent to dispose some refuse.
After endless search, information filtered into the town that they have been found at the Seme border around 3pm.
The unexpected was said to have
happened when the alleged traffickers of the children stopped over at a fillingnstation in Seme border to fuel his car.
It was learnt that it was at this same point that the children regained consciousness and screamed for help and the passers-by came to their rescue.
The alarm was said to have also attracted the attention of a police patrol team in the area and some members of the community.
On sensing danger, the trafficker was said to have zoomed off abandoning the children with about four others.
After interrogation, the victims were said to have given useful information which enable the police trace their homes in
Ilorin and reunite them with their
family.
This development prompted members of the Idi-Ape Quarters to comb the area and descended on some destitute lurking around.
During the raid, a pistol was said to have been found on a man, pretending to be mad.
Contacted,the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Femi Fabode,. an Assistant Superintendent of Police,
said he was yet to be briefed on the
incident.
JTF Blames Nigeria’s Mass Media over Incorrect N25m Reward Reports
The Joint Task Force
(JTF), 'Operation Restore Order' in
Borno State, has faulted media
reports, on August 14, 2013,
Wednesday, crediting the killing of
the top Boko Haram Commander,
Momodu Bama, to the Military Special Operation Unit, Mubi Battalion, Adamawa.
Operation Restore Order in Borno
insisted that Momodu Bama was killed last week in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State by Maiduguri JTF troops, during the Boko Haram attack on Mobile Police Base and Bama town on
August 4, 2013.
It would be recalled that a N25 million reward was promised anybody who could give information on the whereabouts of
the Boko Haram commander.
Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, the
spokesman of JTF in Borno State, in a statement in Maiduguri, said the report was not only misleading, but not true as Momodu Bama, a.k.a Abu Saad, and his father, Abatcha Flatari, were all killed
during the attack.
Lt. Col. Sagir said contrary to the report that a bounty of N10 million was placed on Momodu Bama by the security agencies, it was actually a bounty of N25 million, being the Second-in-Command
to Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.
The JTF Spokesman stated, "he (MomodunBama) was on JTF wanted list of terrorist suspects who is an indigene of Bama
Local Government Area, JTF had earlier placed N25 million bounty on him, being a member of the Boko Haram Shurra Committee, but we have made a tremendous achievement in the recent
Boko Haram attacks in Bama where we killed him alongside his father, Abatcha Flatari".
Lt. Col. Sagir also pointed out that
Abatcha Flatari was before his death, the spiritual mentor of Boko Haram in-charge of indoctrinating child foot soldiers who were mainly abducted children.
