There was a fire outbreak at Great Nigeria House at Balogun Market in Lagos this morning. Eye witnesses said the fire started around 3/4am from one of the
top floors. The cause of the fire outbreak is unknown but people suspect that it may be as a result of electrical fault.
On the ground were National Commission for Migrants and Internally Displaced
Persons (NCFRMI), National Emergency
Management Agency (NEMA), LASEMA, and the Lagos State Fire Service as well as Federal Fire Service to quench the fire,

Governor Fashola’s Father Dead

Pa Ademola Fashola, the biological father of the Lagos State governor,Babatunde.Fashola has died at the age of 79 according to family sources.

The governor’s father passed early today after a prolonged illness that saw him taken to the US for medical treatments
last year.

NDLEA Arrests 2 With 2.615kg Cocaine In Ceramics, Buttons At MMIA

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Thursday, arrested two suspected drug traffickers for illegal importation of 2.615 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed inside ceramics meant for interior decoration as well as buttons from Brazil at the Murtala Muhammed International
Airport, MMIA, Lagos.

The suspects, Mr. Ogbonna Chukwuemeka, 38, and Mr. Otum Godgive Osondu, 45, were arrested when officers of the anti-narcotics agency discovered the cocaine after breaking the ceramic ornaments imported by the suspects and subsequently arrested them.

The suspects, however, stressed that they got involved in the illegal importation of hard drugs because they were offered huge sum of money that they could not resist.
Speaking on the arrest, NDLEA Airport Commander, Hamza Umar said the suspects concealed the cocaine in their luggage on their
way from Brazil.

Six killed In Fresh Ebute Meta, Lagos Building Collapse

The death toll in a collapsed building, early Thursday, in Lagos has risen to six. Emergency rescue officials have revealed that seven people, including two children aged 2 and 4, have been rescued from the rubble. The 3-storey building at Oloto Street, Ebute Meta , collapsed at about 2.35 a.m. trapping about 10 people. Rescue efforts are still ongoing. More details coming soon ….
