Deadly explosion at Texas fertilizer plant kills 15, over 150 injured

A deadly explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant yesterday night Wednesday April 17th has left at least 15 people dead, including five volunteer firefighters and one police officer. The blast, which measured 2.1 on the Richter scale according to Reuters, left the town of West, 20miles north of Waco, 'like a a warzone'. Over 180 people were injured in the blast, while dozensof homes and buildings were destroyed.

Public safety officials say they expect the death toll to rise and that re scue efforts have been hampered because of hazardous chemicals in the air following theexplosion. Just feels like the US has been under attack this past few days. A fiery explosion tore through a fertilizer plant and leveled dozens of homes in a small Texas town late on Wednesday, killing as many as 15people, injuring more than 160 others and spewing toxic fumes that forced the evacuation of half the community, authorities said.

Police initially estimated that between five and 15 people had perished in the blast, which rocked the town of West, located about 20 miles north of Waco and 80 miles south of Dallas, shortly before 8 p.m. local time on Wednesday. Read more
