That hyphen in Jay Z's name, say no more as the Brooklyn rapper-formerly known as Jay-Z has changed his name to Jay Z. The news flash came from Billboard editor Joe Levy who got the word from Hov's Roc Nation imprint.
Breaking: Jay Z has dropped the hyphen frome his name, according to his label. I am not kidding. (Wish I was.) Copy editors: take note.

Backtracking on Hov's last couple of projects, the change has actually been subtly in place since 2011 with Watch The Throne when his name was credited as "Jay Z." More recently, it was executed in similar fashion with How's Magna Carta...Holy Grail all throughout the promotion. But this all leads to one question, did it really make a difference?
