Ekiti: Aggrieved aspirants pick Aluko, reject Fayose

Senator Gbenga Aluko, one of the 13 aggrieved governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State has emerged as the the consensus candidate of the party on Friday night after he emerged the winner of the election done among the 12 aspirants.

This is coming seven days after the party conducted a primary election which produced former Governor Ayo Fayose as the governorship candidate.

Confirming the news, the Director General of Senator Gbenga Aluko Cakpaign Organisation, Mr. Tunji Olatunde said all the 13 aspirants who were clamouring for a consensus arrangement to select the flag bearer of the party participated in the selection of Aluko except former Deputy Governor Bisi Omoyeni.

He added that all the 11 aspirants congratulated him and assured him of their support for the June 21 governorship election in the state.

Aluko while speaking with journalist said the Chairman of the PDP in Ekiti State, Mr. Makanjuola Ogundipe supervised the election which produced him ( Aluko) as the consensus candidate of the the party.

He said, they are going to meet the President and the group would present their consensus candidate to him.

Efforts to get the PDP chairman in Ekiti State proved abortive.

Man Beats Wife To Death, Buries Her And Runs Away

Ekiti State police are trying to unravel the mysteries surrounding a man, Mr Adewale Daramola who allegedly beat his wife to death in Igbemo-Ekiti community in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

According to sources, Daramola did not just beat his wife to death, but also buried her.
38-year-old Iyabo, Daramola's wife has two children from the union.

Sources revealed that after the incident, Daramola ran away to escape arrest. He was said to have gone to seek refuge in the bush.

The suspect has now been taken back into custody and is being detained at the Iworoko Police Station.

Ekiti Varsity Fires 3 Lecturers, Expels 24 Students

Due to alleged manipulation of
examination marks the Ekiti State
University has sacked three senior
academic members.

Mr. Bunmi Ajibade said at the weekend the members were also sacked for plagiarism and failure to serve the institution after being sponsored abroad.

The university also expulled 24 students to who were found guilty of charges ranging from examination misconduct to being members of unregistered associations.

The governing council took the decision to sack the dons at its 108th meeting held on 13th June, 2013, where the recommendations of the senior staff disciplinary committee on the concerned staff were considered.

The expulsion of the students was
confirmed by the university management after the students appeared before the students' disciplinary committee, it was gathered.

Meanwhile, the Vice-
Chancellor of the school, Prof Patrick Aina, has approved the lifting of the suspension placed on Students Union activities with immediate effect.
But the statement said only duly
registered students that have paid their school fees in full will be allowed to participate in the Students' Unionelection either as a contestants or vote
