This was sequel to a clause-by-clause consideration of a Bill for an Act to prohibit marriage or union entered between persons of same sex, at the Committee of the Whole.
“Marriage or civil union entered between persons of same gender shall not be solemnised in any place of worship, either church or mosque or any place in Nigeria,” it said.
Introducing the bill, Rep. Albert Sam-Tsokwa ( PDP-Taraba) said that it sought to achieve a far reaching objective by outlawing same sex marriage and provide punishment for offenders. It also set out a 10-year sentence for “any person who directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationships’’.
“Any persons or group of persons that administers, witnesses, screen and shields the solemnisation of same sexmarriage in Nigeria on conviction, will be liable to 10 years imprisonment.’’
It would be recalled also that the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, had warned that his country would consider with holding aid from countries that did not recognise gay rights.
In Nov. 2011, the senate approved the bill that would make same-sex marriages punishable by up to 14 years for the couple and 10 for anyone abetting such unions.

Why do you have so much tattoos? I have about four tattoos and they represent different things. I have some in some undisclosed places but the ones you can see, you can see. I have on my hand, which represents my daughter; she is my angel. The one on my leg is my Leo star sign. The other ones, let’s forget about them.
Can you tattoo something about your spouse on your body? No, I wouldn’t do that. Why would I put the face of my boyfriend on my body? What if he leaves me tomorrow? You know how guys are really. So I can’t just have a guy’s face on my body and tomorrow he goes away. What will happen?
What is it like for you, being a mother? I really love my daughter. I love her so much, she is going to be 10 this year. She doesn’t live in Nigeria, she only comes on holiday. Being a mother is the best thing that has happened to me. It has made me really calm and focused, knowing that I have to work towards something; at the end of the day, build an empire for my daughter, my children, the ones that are going to come after her. I’ve not had pains though, just been happy.
Do you not miss her? I do miss her but she would rather stay in London than stay here in Nigeria. She is staying with her dad. She would rather stay in London.
How about her dad and you? What happened? We are not together anymore, hewas my partner but now we are no more together. We met and that was it. We started from there, got along, dated, had a kid,lived together and that was it. Wenever planned on getting married.
Are you in a relationship? No, I’m very single.
Did you ever date Ice Prince? Ice Prince is just my friend. It has always been that way. It does not matter if I put up pictures. I could put up pictures of anybody. I never said anything, next minute people were saying I’m dating him. I never said anything. I don’t have a boyfriend, he is just my friend.
Why did you not debunk the rumours? Me? You think I have time for Lagos? You think I want to go out there and talk? I don’t have time. I have better things to do, I’ll not go on Twitter and say it’s a lie. Say whatever you want to say, it is my life. I don’t do that.
How did you feel when you heard the rumours, didn’t you feel bad? No, I did not feel bad. He is a good looking guy so why will I feel bad? Do they want to dash me boyfriend? I did not feel bad at all, I let everything be.
Can you marry a married man like some of your colleagues inthe industry are doing?
Oh, what a question! I wouldn’t marry a married man because the man is married. I can only marry such a man if he is divorced. If the man is divorced he is no longer married, then I can marry him with or without children. There is nothing wrong in a man having children. If the person is nice and we are compatible, why not? I don’t mind.
So, what will attract you to a man?
First, the man has to be very humble, God-fearing and truthful. I don’t see why two people in a relationship should lie to each other. I like people toalways tell me the truth regardless of the situation. I think that is the major thing that attracts me to a man. I like surprises. Instead of telling me things to elevate yourself let me find out and be surprised. I love men who are humble.
What’s your idea of sex generally. How often should it be done?
Sex has the real pleasure when you are doing it without any form of fear. I’m not saying unmarried people should not engage in sex because there is nothing I will say that will make them stop but somebody like me, every time I do it I always feel bad that I’m sinning against God. Even before sex I feel frigid because there is always that looming fear that I’m not doing what is right. That is for me, I don’t know about any other person. If I’m married to the man then I will feel very free and enjoy it very well
